SensorySphere is a therapeutic sensory device conceived to combat the symptoms of Dementia — addressing mood instability, emotional withdrawal, and cognitive decline through purposeful, multi-sensory engagement. Designed around three core sensory pillars — Sound, Touch, and Visual — the product stimulates distinct areas of the brain simultaneously, fostering new neural connections and keeping cognition active. Ambient sound, triggered by the natural rotation of the sphere, gently relaxes and emotionally arouses the user. Interchangeable tactile surfaces engage the sense of touch through varied irregular textures, while the sphere's bold, high-contrast colour palette delivers continuous visual stimulation, anchoring focus and presence.
A key innovation in the SensorySphere system is its modular magnetic tile architecture, designed to maximise both ease of use and personalisation. Users can freely swap between differently textured surface tiles — whether for therapeutic routine or spontaneous exploration. Charging is handled seamlessly via a magnetic base: the built-in magnet automatically orients the sphere to the correct charging position, eliminating any guesswork and ensuring the experience remains effortless for users and caregivers alike.
The sphere's internal architecture is engineered around three core components: a long-life battery cell, a speaker system, and a PCB equipped with an oscillometer that reads the sphere's rotational movement in real time. As the user interacts with and rotates the device, the oscillometer triggers a randomised ambient sound from a preloaded SD memory bank — creating an unpredictable, engaging audio experience that sustains curiosity and emotional response with every use.
